Local Area

Our guests at Rose Cottage can enjoy a pint or a meal in the famous Woolpack Inn, which achieved ‘Gold’ for Pub of the Year in the 2010 Cotswold tourism awards.  The Woolpack is just a 10 minute walk away, but further afield you will encounter numerous country pubs and restaurants, as you explore this beautiful corner of Britain.

Several Cotswold towns and villages, such as Bath, Stow-on-the Wold, Cirencester and Bourton-on-the Water, are popular with holiday makers, but there are plenty of hidden local gems to discover too, such as Painswick and Nailsworth.  Gloucester, only ten miles away, is great to explore, with Britain’s most inland port, as well as the 900 year old cathedral where some of the Harry Potter movies were filmed.  Stroud, our nearest town, with its award winning farmers’ market every Saturday, is less than three miles away.

Cheltenham racecourse is the home of jump racing.  The Festival in March, with its setting, history and tradition, is one of the most exciting race meetings in the world.  Race-goers will find Rose Cottage an ideal location, as Cheltenham is only 12 miles away.  As well as the Gold Cup, Cheltenham hosts a variety of events throughout the year including the science, jazz, classical music and international literature festivals.

Our B&B is in the heart of the Cotswolds and there is a Tourist Information Centre in Stroud, where you can find details of local events, activities and places of interest.  Whether you are planning a relaxing weekend break, a walking holiday, or a wildlife weekend, you will find Rose Cottage the ideal place to stay.

Also visit the Cotswold Canals Trust, Visit Stroud, Berkeley Castle and Badminton and Gatcombe Horse Trials.
